The Bahamas Environmental Recycling Initiative (BERI) is a grassroots environmental nonprofit developing innovative waste recovery programs, community initiatives, and educational campaigns that reduce landfill dependency and strengthen environmental resilience across The Bahamas.
Our Programs
Building a circular future for our islands through community, creativity, and innovation.

THE BAHAMA BUCKET PROJECT
Community beach clean-up stations. Our signature pink buckets empower anyone to collect litter during their beach day, return the bucket, and keep the cycle going.

ISLAND GLASS
Coming soon. An innovative glass recovery initiative that transforms discarded glass into valuable resources, reducing landfill waste while creating new opportunities for our islands.
Why it Matters

On an island, waste doesn’t simply disappear. Limited land, limited infrastructure. Our proximity to the sea make responsible resource recovery especially important in The Bahamas.

Today’s waste can become tomorrow’s building material, landscaping product, environmental asset and solution, even artwork.

Cleaner beaches and healthier oceans benefit wildlife, our communities, and tourism alike.

Lasting environmental change begins with communities working together.
Our Vision
We envision a Bahamas where waste is recognized as a resource, communities are empowered to protect their environment, and innovative recovery systems create cleaner, more resilient islands.
