Imagine arriving at your favorite beach and finding a bright pink bucket waiting for you.
Use it to keep your own garbage contained throughout the day—your food wrappers, bottles, cans, and anything else you bring with you. When you’re ready to leave, simply empty the bucket into a nearby garbage bin and return it to the station.
And if you happen to spot a few pieces of litter along your walk or during your beach day? Toss those in too. A few extra pieces can make a difference.
That’s the idea behind The Bahama Bucket Project.
Created by BERI, this community initiative aims to place bright pink cleanup buckets at beaches and coastal spaces throughout The Bahamas, making it easier for residents and visitors to keep their own waste contained and leave our beaches cleaner than they found them.
No registration. No organized event. No special equipment.
Just a simple convenience that makes doing the right thing a little easier—and helps keep garbage where it belongs: in the bin, not on the beach.

How It Works
When a Bahama Bucket Station is installed, it’s designed to make beach cleanups as easy as possible.
Simply:
- Grab a pink bucket.
- Use it for your own garbage and to collect litter during your beach walk.
- Empty the contents into the nearby garbage bin.
- Return the bucket to the station for the next person.
Whether you collect one bottle cap or a bucket full of debris, every piece removed helps protect our beaches, marine life, and coastal ecosystems.
Small actions, repeated by thousands of people, create meaningful change.

…It’s also our hope that the hot pink will deter tiefs from tiefing these community buckets.

We’re currently working with community partners, businesses, local organizations, and sponsors to bring the first Bahama Bucket Stations to beaches across Grand Bahama.
Our goal is to create a growing network of stations that make everyday beach stewardship easy and accessible.
